MSME Registration

Udyam Registration is the official government registration process through which Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in India are formally recognised and classified under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act, 2006. Administered by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME), this registration replaced the earlier Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) system with effect from 1 July 2020, following a comprehensive overhaul of the MSME classification framework and registration process. Upon registration, an enterprise receives a permanent Udyam Registration Number (URN) and a digitally verifiable Udyam Registration Certificate which serve as the official proof of MSME status and are required to access the vast spectrum of government schemes, subsidies, priority lending, and regulatory benefits available exclusively to registered MSMEs. The registration is issued through the Udyam Registration Portal (udyamregistration.gov.in) and is based entirely on self-declaration, with no requirement for document uploads, inspections, or third-party certifications.
